Celebrate World Book Day with these classic books for kids!
WORLD BOOK DAY is the biggest celebration of books and reading in the world.
This year they have given every child in full-time education in the UK and Ireland a book token so they can visit a bookshop and choose a BOOK for themselves. Last year over 1.2 million World Book Day book tokens were redeemed! So make sure you get your £1 book this week!

The Royal mail issues a series of stamps celebrating characters from more than 60 years of children’s television.
Royal Mail is celebrating over 60 years of classic children’s TV with a new stamp collection, kicking off its Special Stamp programme for 2014.
Included in the set are 12 of the most popular characters from children’s television; featuring Andy Pandy, Ivor the Engine, Dougal from The Magic Roundabout, Windy Miller from Camberwick Green, Mr Benn, Great Uncle Bulgaria from The Wombles, Bagpuss, Paddington Bear, Postman Pat and his cat Jess, Bob the Builder, Peppa Pig and Shaun the Sheep.

At the beginning of October we paid tribute to the opening of Orlando’s Walt Disney World in 1971.
On October 22nd, just 8 years later the theme park received its 100 millionth visitor in 1979.

Named after the Disney founder, Walt Disney World opens in Orlando, Florida. In 1971 around 10,000 visitors assembled in Orlando to witness the grand opening of the 300,000 acre resort.

Roald Dahl Day is celebrated on the birthday of the World's No. 1 Storyteller!
This year Roald Dahl day falls on the same day as Friday 13th which has given the perfect excuse for a theme of mischief and mayhem - even more than usual. The day will be celebrating all the "tricksy characters" from Dahl's stories including George and his mayhemic medicine, the foulsome Witches and Matilda with her "parent-scaring tricks".
