The Walt Disney Company acquires comic book juggernaut Marvel Entertainment.
The Walt Disney Co. acquire Marvel Entertainment Inc. for $4 billion in cash and stock. Under the deal Disney will now control and own 5,000 Marvel characters, including Iron Man and Spider-Man.

Baptised Norma Jean Baker, the Hollywood starlet and sex symbol of the 50's came into the limelight in 1945 when a photographer took a snapshot of the stunning brunette while working at a factory.
Within months she became a successful model, securing dozens of magazine covers.
Although having a successful career as a model, she dreamt of becoming an actress like Jean Harlow or Lana Turner.

Recognised for his dark, gothic and quirky take on horror and fantasy films, Burton's films include Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow, Corpse Bride, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Dark Shadows and Frankenweenie.
