Manchester Utd are first English club to win the title
1968 is a year that Man Utd fans will continue to honor as the team walked away as champions of the European Cup. Playing against Portuguese team Benfica, the English team won by four goals to one.
19th November 1969
Brazilian soccer player Pelé scores the 1000th goal of his professional career.
In 1969, playing against Vasco da Gama in Rio de Janeiro's Maracana stadium, Brazilian soccer great Pele scored his 1000th professional goal.
It was a major milestone in an illustrious career that included three World Cup championships.

This weekend marks the introduction of teams from Leagues One and Two into the Football Association’s flagship cup competition, the imaginatively-titled FA Cup. We’ll officially refer to it as the ‘First Round’ (or perhaps ‘Round One’ if we’re feeling crazy) all across the nation’s media, but the reality is that some of the teams still in this year’s tournament could have endured four previous ‘qualifying’ rounds.
