Christmas classic, It's a Wonderful Life, premieres in New York City.
Directed by Frank Capra, this classic bittersweet comedy/drama is considered one of the most loved films in America and has become a traditional viewing during the Christmas season.
George Bailey (played by Jimmy Stewart) is a despairingly frustrated businessman who's facing financial ruin and has long considered himself a failure. After contemplating suicide, his guardian angel, Clarence, is sent down to Earth to help him. George decides that the world would have been a better place without him and wishes he was never born. Clarence shows him the tragic life that would have been had he never existed.
George is made to realise how many lives he has touched and helped, through his existence. Just as Clarence had planned, George awakens to the fact that despite all its deprivations, he truly has had a wonderful life!
